Kibi International University, which began as a college of sociology in1990, has expanded to offer new courses, assuming that Japan’s rapidly advancing “globalization”, “information” and “aging” are the key issues to be dealt with in the sphere of education.

 

In 1995, School of Health Science and School of Social Welfare were added, followed by the establishment of graduate programs. Then in 2000, Department of Mental Health and Welfare, Department of Clinical Psychology and Department of Welfare and Volunteerism were added to School of Social Welfare. In recognition of the importance to preserve cultural properties toward the 21st century, Department of International Conservation Studies for Cultural Properties was created in 2002 in School of Sociology studies. In 2002, correspondence courses, designed for working adults, were initiated in Graduate School of Social Welfare Studies. In 2004, Graduate School of Clinical Psychology Studies and School of Policy Management were established, and in 2005 Department of Sport Sociology was created in School of Sociology studies, while doctoral courses were added in Graduate School of Health Science Studies and Graduate School of Conservation and Restoration for Cultural Properties Studies was newly created.

 

Kibi International University, located in Takahashi City, 50 minites away from Okayama city by train, is a beautiful Castle town and an ideal place for research and learning activities. Many of the prestigious universities around the world have their campuses in surroundings similar to ours.
Takahashi Educational Institution includes Junsei junior College and Junsei School of Nursing established in 1967 that share the same philosophy with Kibi International University. Also included are an affiliate college, Kyushu University of Health and Welfare established in 1999 in Nobeoka City, Miyazaki Prefecture and Institute of Health and Human Services of Kyushu University of Health and Welfare established in April 2005 in Miyazaki City. Our mission is to develop diversified human resources, while assimilating into the community and maintaining close collaboration among schools, with an aim to be recognized as world-class academic town.
